Hoover Dam is 726ft (221m) high and 1,244ft (379m) long and as Carol described when she first saw it...wow that is huge. The pictures struggle to do it justice and it truly is an engineering masterpiece. It is built on the Colorado River between Nevada and Arizona and is one of the world's largest dams. It was built between 1931 and 1936. The dam is a major supplier of hydroelectric power and provides flood control and river regulation for down river cities.
