Annapolis

We made a trip to Annapolis for Carol's birthday on the Memorial Day long weekend. Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and is home to one of the largest collection of old and historic buildings and houses in the US. In 1783 and 1784 Annapolis actually served as the capital of the US when the Congress met there. The old statehouse where George Washington resigned as commander in chief of the Continental Army in 1783 and where the treaty that ended the Revolutionary War was ratified in 1784. The US Naval Academy is also located in Annapolis, which was established in 1845.

Annapolis is a beautiful place, situated right on the Chesapeake Bay. Because it was Memorial Day the crowds were high so we had a quick look around the main street and wharf area before having lunch in a local pub before heading back home to beat the crowds on the road. We will definitely be heading back for a look around the capital building and the US Naval Academy.

Just a little bit older than ADFA
