Arizona has a history that just oozes legends of America's old and wild west (some real and some not so real). Great Indian chiefs such as Geronimo and Cochise led their people against the frontiersmen. Tombstone was the site of possibly the west's most famous shoot out at the OK Corral. Songs have been written about just "Standing on a Corner" and canyons around this place are the grandess of all.

Following one of Adam's meeting in San Diego we drove across the state, entering down near Yuma, going across to Tucson and Tombstone, before heading north to Winslow, a massive hole (meteor crater) in the ground and a very scared forest (Petrified Forest).

Something that did surprise us was the elevation of the state. The west of the state is at or around sea level but as you head east the land rises and I think during our drive peaked out at around 7,000ft above sea level. No wonder it was a bit cool up there.

If you love the outdoors and more desolate countryside (but with its own beauty) than green wooded areas, then Arizona just might be for you.
